What will keep my cat from urinating on the carpet
1) Never rub thier noses in it. Cats are not like dogs, they do not associate this with behavior modifcation.they associate it with you just being mean to them; which will create resentment towards you. Not what you want.
2) Think about your environment you are providing kitty. Is he/she comfortable with where you placed the litter box to begin with, or maybe you need to move it?
3) Maybe there is a medical problem that you need to have the vet check up on.
4) Is the kind of litter you are using one that the kitty likes? Many cats are very particular about the type of litter you use. Some like clay only, some like the crystals only, some like natural littler only (pine, wheat, etc.).
Fortunately, my kitty started using the kitty box from day one. And he has never fussed about the kind of litter we use, however.I like the more natural kinds for him. Because they lick thier paws all the time, clay litter has been known to be ingested into thier digestive tract and cause blockages and other ailments. So I really dislike clay. So I use pine or wheat litter. Pine you can recycle, wheat you can flush.
Just be kind to your kitty. Work with him/her to find a solution, instead of you being a demanding, bossy person the kitty can grow to resent.

Do you currently have a litter box? If not you need to purchase one, You may have to teach the cat what area it needs to go to use the litter box. Don't get me wrong cats are very SMART animals and he will learn. Also their is some cleaner that you can get at the pet stores that has like ammonia in it and you spray that on the cat urine and rub his/her nose in it and its supposed to teach them not to go on the carpet.
Kicking that ungrateful piece of feline crap through an open window would be my choice, but, my wife sees otherwise. We've put products like "nature's way" and other so-called enzyme products on the spot and then barricaded it to keep Fluffy away from it, as well as made sure there was a clean litter box really close. But, sometimes, especially if the cat is stressed or in season (or smells other cats in season) you're fighting an uphill battle. Good luck. And yes, there are few things quite as tantalizing as fermenting cat piss. I feel for you.
if she has started to chances are she might not stop because her scent is in the carpet. Cats use their urine to mark their territory just like dogs. So u need to thoroughy wash your carpet and make sure it gets completely dry( or the smell will get even worse!!)
