Keep its litterbox clean. Female cats need theirs cleaned every day. Males aren't as picky. If it's a male cat that's not been neutered then GET HIM NEUTERED! This may slow him down from marking his territory somewhat. It depends on his age and how long he's been in this habit. Neutering will also keep him from contributing to the pet overpopulation problem.

Use Woolite Pet Stain & Oder Eliminator where the cat has done it's business. It has deterants in it. If the cat is in the HABIT of doing this it's something you'll just have to deal with.

If you find another home for the cat it won't work and the poor thing could wind up out in the wild going ferel. Ferel cats die HORRIFIC deaths. Or it could wind up in a shelter and be put to sleep as an unwanted pet.

If your cat was using a box before, but suddenly started going on the carpet, he/she may have a urinary infection. Spay/neuter also helps. Males tend to spray or mark their spot when not neutered, some females will too. If this is a young kitten, confine him/her in a smaller area, such as a bathroom, with a litter box until they use only the box.

Spraying pheromone spray will help. You can buy them at the vets. (there is one called Feliway which is good)

Rubbing a cat nose in it won't help it will actually cause your cat to ebecome fear full of you and usually hide and run from you.

Is this a new behavior? Has your cat been using the litter box ok? And is the cat spayed or neutered?If not do that as the first step. If this behavior issue just started more then likely your cat has a bladder infection. Often health issues are the cause of improper peeing.Get the cat checked by your vet.

Make sure the cats litter box is cleaned often. cats don't like using a dirty litter box. You must get the smell out of your carpet cats will keep peeing where they smell urine..
