stress and sometimes there is a product that just taste good. Make them stop or it can kill them, no really. There is a product you can buy to spray on the wall to make them stop. I used it for horses and its real bitter. Horses like to eat wood.

Could be boredom, could be bad diet, could be crazy-weird cat. Whichever it is, it's gotta stop. That could cause anything from lead poisoning to bowel obstructions. There are products that are pet-safe but taste really bad and bitter. Get some and spray it on the wall where he's eating the paint. If you can't afford anything right now (it's not that expensive though), try rubbing some lemon juice or hot peppers on it. Check the lemon juice with him first though. I've got a cat who actually likes lemon juice. Most are repelled by it though.

Play with him more, get him some interactive toys for when you are gone. If you can, consider another cat to keep him company. What do you feed him? He might be lacking something in his diet. Also, they sell little pots with the seeds to grow mixed greens (oats, barley, etc) in a lot of pet stores. Maybe getting some roughage for him would help.
