NONE of the grocery store level foods are good for cats

BHT, BHA are preservatives used in some of these foods and have been linked to many probems which will show up later in life (kidney, liver, cancer etc)

by-products are fillers, beaks feet feathers. main thing bad here is they are preserved with a Chemical Pesticide known as Ethoxyquin.. banned for human use, it is linked to many health problems

corn - a cheap filler not easily digestable as a good protien source..*unlike dogs, cats are true carnivours.. they need a good MEAT source. corn isnt a good meat source

fillers mean a cat needs to eat more food and they are harder on the tummy - making smelly poop and causing vomitting.. also more filler = more poop.

grocery level foods also use FAT to give a glossy coat since most owners are easily tricked into thinking a glossy coat = a healthy pet. but the fat is hard on cats tummies.

anyhow I could go on and on about how bad grocery level food is.. not all pet supply store food is good - Science Diet for example is CRAP (they PAID for vet endorsement)

you should be aware vets receieve little or NO training on food ingredients and brands.. they promote what they are paid to promote..

in Canada NUTRAM is best, or ACANA, in USA, NUTRO NATURAL CHOICE is ok.. but FELIDAE or WELLNESS or INNOVA is better

yes these foods cost more - BUT your cat will eat less = poop less and have fewer health problems later in life.

I'd recommend Science Diet. A lot of the cheaper brands don't use natural ingredients and use fillers which are not particulary good for cats. I was feeding my cat cheaper food and she was shedding like crazy and gained a lot of weight. I switched to Science Diet and now she sheds a lot less, has lost the weight, and is now very happy and healthy. Food does make a big difference.

Cat's can be very fussy. Just because the brand is considered the best, you're cat may not eat it. I had a cat that woudl not touch anything but the cheapest stuff they had in the shop - I tried the leading brands and the expensive stuff but it walked away.
