You're going to get so many different answers, proving that there ISN'T a "best" cat food, lol.

Just stay away from cheap foods, and expensive foods with crappy ingredients. Look for the words "byproducts" and "corn" in the ingredients..if they're there, avoid that food. Even Science Diet has a lot of that crap in it.

I'm switching my cats to Solid Gold. It's a holistic pet food. My brother and parents use the dog food for their dogs, and you wouldn't believe the difference it's made in all of them.

And no, mice aren't best. (I'm talking about field mice. They can carry parasites.)

Royal Canin has a range of foods tailored for age, health etc. Their customer service phone number is really helpful and their food isn't as expensive as IAMS.

Actually mice are the best cat food. Second best is a home-made raw meat diet (see. www.catinfo.com) Third is a premium cat food (Royal Canin mentioned here) that contains NO CORN. The best foods are made with rice, oats, tapioca etc. and a high percentage of meat protein (should be the first two ingredients on the bag)
