Whats the best way to break up a cat fight With out being cruel2007-11-25 12:29:09

I just want to know. Cause I worry my old cat will start attacking my little kitten . I worry they wont get along . Is there anything I can do to break it up. So I wont be cruel or hurting my cat's. And please dont be rude.

Try a squirt gun. Or a spray bottle of water set to squirt a stream. The older one will NOT like that and if you monitor them for a while, squirting the older one when it start acting aggressive towards the little one, he will eventually learn to stop bothering the other cat.

I know some people will tell you that the squirt bottle idea is not nice and is still cruel, but you are the master of these two cats, and you have to teach them without hurting them.

I wouldn't like to get squirted, and if someone was randomly watering me, I might think them cruel. But then, I am not the one beating up on the kitten. The older cat may not understand why he is getting squirted, because he doesn't know that he is not supposed to do attack the little one. This is natural behavior for a cat. So is peeing on any furniture in his "territory," but you have to stop them from doing that to.

The cat may not really understand why, but he will learn to stop doing that if he does not want to get wet.

you have to grab the older cat. you may think it is cruel but u should come to sense that he is the one who is attacking the small ones.

just grab them by the hair on the back of the neck and gently pull them apart..and try not to leave them alone. if you see them getting ready to fight just jump on to them and seperate them.

You really should not attempt to break up a cat fight, because you could get seriously mangled. I have two cats that have the same issues, these animals have figured how to deal since they evolved.they will figure it out, whether one cat ends up being submissive or one the king of the jungle. As long as one is not being deprived of his food, he should turn out ok.

Take a small cup of water and pour it on the cat. it sounds mean but it does not hurt the cat just get its mind off the other object. Good luck Oh and my daughter just spanks hers and tells them know fighting.

dont know about cats, but i have dogs and if its serious and one is getting hurt a bucket of wather does the trick.might seem cruel, but not as bad as what can happen.x

Your older cat will definitely want to put the young upstart in his place. She may hiss at him, swat at him and it would be high unlikely that she will harm him in any way.

Pour water over the one that attacking.. that's what I use when dogs or cats are fighting.

If the older cat is winning most of these fights, keep a water bottle on hand to squirt them with. If that doesn't stop them, dump a glass of water on the older cat. If the kitten is winning, leave them alone. Eventually the older cat will get tired of getting beat up and stop attacking.

water, water, water!! Works like a charm. You can also get a soda can, put some change in it, tape the lid shut and shake it when they fight, they hate the noise and it will deter them from fighting.

i don't know you but i really don't want you to get hurt while trying to break up a cat fight. you really don't specify if this is an old cat and a new member of the house or anything but i think you should try to keep them apart from each other for a while or only until they get used to each other. but whatever it is good luck and please be careful.

I used a towel and rubbed it all over the mean alpha cat and then rubbed it onto the kitten. Then vice versa and kept the towel at the food dish. They got used to each other scent really quickly. It also helps to have them spaided as well. Other than that I really cant think of anything else. They really have to get used to each other on their own over time.
