Whats the best way to skin a cat

I beleive there's more than one way. Assume it is still alive.

The best way is to get a skilled chef to do it for you. A skilled chef will be able to remove the skin in one whole piece leaving ears, nose, tail, feet and whiskers still intact on the skin. A taxidermist could do the same.

If you plan on eating the cat you may choose to shave it first so that you can then stuff the shaved skin with the minced up meat of the cat mixed with some eggs and cream, seasoning, a little brandy and maybe a few pistachios, almonds and bits of truffle. The whole thing can then be oven poached or roasted, cooled and covered with a classic french chaudfroid sauce and decorated. The finished dish would grace any upmarket buffet table, yum yum.

If you do roast it be sure to cover it's ears, tail and whiskers with aluminium foil, this stops these delicate parts from burning and also helps to keep a nice shape. You can use the foil to manipulate the tail into a nice shapely curve or coil like a pigs tail. Also put a something in the cats mouth before cooking then afterwards it can be removed and replaced with a small rosy apple, very attractive. Or instead of an apple why not be creative and cook a mouse or rat to put in the cat's mouth.

Incidentally, once skinned a cat can and in the past often was passed off as a rabbit.

If you plan on cooking the cat in a more informal manner, then do not shave it first but still have a chef or taxidermist remove the skin whole and you will then have the material to make an excellent Davy Crocket hat.
