Whats worng with my cat2007-11-25 12:29:58

My cat had a two babies and one died my some rat but the other one lived. By the way, my cat is playing with her kitten and not nursing it enough. What's wrong?

Answers:

If the kitten is always crying, then probably the mother is not nursing enough. If the kitten is hungry you will know it. If this is the case then you will have to step in an be the surrogate mom. You will have to go and get kitten milk, Whiska's milk premade in the box is the best. If the kitten is not crying then the mother is doing her job, and don't worry. Good Luck!

You'll have to get replacement milk for the kitten and feed it with a dropper or it could die! Take the kitten to the vet if it doesn't look right.

It COULD be nursing it enough. I don't know how much milk they need, but I'm sure she has the instinct to feed her kitten.

You definately need to take car of the kitten yourself. If this is your cat's first litter, she may be confused on what to do. My mom's dog did the same thing, she didn't even clean them up. Watch her carefully, she may kill the baby. And like the person above me said, get the kitten to a vet.

You should go to the vet. If the momma cat isn't feeding the kitten properly then you should buy some cats milk from petsmart or something.

I honestly never have mommy cat who nursed her kittens well. Most of them drink the milk that is given to the kittens as supplement beacuse she didn't have much milk to feed them! Aside from three kittens alive, i had one died because the mother was useless.

I will take the kittens to the vet if I were you, or feed them with milk from the pet store and wipe them regularly with pet wipes after they "poop".

Momma cats do this when there is something wrong with the babies. If mom detects a deformity or other problem, she will not care for them. Best bet is to take the kitten to the vet and have him put to sleep. Momma cats usually know best. Then get mom spayed.
