Whats wrong with my Cat2007-11-25 12:30:00

My cat has a bloody little bump that looks like a scab right by her ear. Has anyone had any similair problems, and do you think you know what this is? Is there anything I can do to help it? Should I take her to the vet?

I have several cats and if they have anything like that on them, I will usually watch it for a day or two and if it gets worse I bring them in to the vet. You should also watch them to see if they paw at it or try to tend to it by licking it..this could indicate irritation and/or pain..which I am NOT likely to let my cats have if I can help it. You can also do a google search for feline medical problems and you might find some more detail, but I'd still take the above advice if they were my cats. Also, the bump could be a sign of a bigger problem. I don't know, I wouldn't risk all of that..if it doesn't seem to get better, I'd bring him/her in. Good luck!

It could be fleas or ear mites. Is she scratching? I'd take her to the vet.

has she been in a fight is it a cut or it might be an abscess if your worried take her to a vet

I would definately take her to the vet. It could be a tick buried in her skin. She could of gotten in a scuffle with another cat. I have learned over the years with my 4 cats, you don't mess with things like this. It could be a bad infection. I've had a cat bit twice by a spider. Spider bites can kill a cat. It could be that too. Sounds like she may need anti-biotics. It would pay to be safe than sorry.

Really? My dog had the same problem. Only he had it on the back of his neck. The vets say that it happens on cats too. If it is scabby or looks like it has pus on it, it could be a small tumor. Depending on its size, there are a couple things the vet can do. They can remove it. Or they can give you some ointment that can clear it up. If it is large, they have to remove it. It could also be a parasite living under your cats skin. You should have it looked at just in case.

Do you have other cats? She may have been smacked by one. If you don't have other cats, does she go outside? She may have gotten smacked by another cat in the neighborhood. It happens to one of my cats occasionally. He instigates fights with my other cats and cats in the neighborhood. They always heal just fine within a few days.
