Whats wrong with my cat He is sick2007-11-25 12:30:01

This just started last night. My cat is sneezing a lot. I meen a lot, he woke me up all night and morning. So far he does not seem sick other then the sneezing.

He is an indoor only cat. He has had NO contact with any other animal.

I dont know if he just has a kitty cold or what. Please help.

Yeah sounds like a little cold BUT you may have brought something in on your shoes that trigger an allergy or something. You could've walked on grass that has just been fertilized. Watch for a couple days. Not better? Vet.

With the weather cooling off and such you're keeping your house more closed up and the indoor pollen can be worse than outside pollen..so get an air purifier or/and humidifier..it helps. The cat may just have cat allergies..my dog has them real bad when I keep my house closed up. good luck

As others have stated, cats can develop allergies. I have a cat that coughs when his flare up and I have to take him to the vet to get an allergy shot.

Sneezing Cat Problem

Cats are very suseptible to upper respiratory infections that manifest as sneezing, runny eyes, and sometimes nasal discarge. Some cats may not eat as well due to decreased sense of smell. Feline asthma is a non-infectious disease of middle aged cats that manifests as wheezing and coughing and can mimic other conditions, such as heart failure. Anytime your pet is showing signs of illness or just not "him/herself", it is time to visit your veterinarian for an examination and possible treatment of the underlying cause.

cats do not get the common cold. a cat should not generally sneeze although of course they all do from time to time. If a cat sneezes a lot and has discharge from their eyes it may be 'cat flu'. Has your cat been vaccinated against this? If he is not in contact with other cats then this is unlikely to be the problem but you should check with the vet.

He might be alergic to something in your house. You might want to see where he walks by when he sneezes.
