Whats wrong with my cat2007-11-25 12:30:00

My cat is 9 months old and her eyes are always dirty on the outside and it's not liquid so it's not a cold! She had an URI when she was 5 months old! Also her nose is always dirty, there's always black stuff in it but it's not liquid either!! Otherwise, she is in good health, she eats well and she plays a lot! She must have trouble breathing if her nose is full of black gunk?? What do you think it could be?? Should I worry?

One of my kitties had a pretty serious upper respiratory infection when she was rescued as a small kitten. She is healthy, but has allergies. her nose often has black gunk in it. It is just mucus--kitty boogers. I would take her for a vet visit just to make sure she doesn't have an infection. If left untreated, it can go to her eye. That happened to my baby. Keep a close watch on her, and get a soft, warm, dampened cloth to wipe her little nose and eyes. It is probably allergies, but I would see the vet just to make sure.

it's probably just a dirty nose maybe she digs in the dirt a lot, if you are so concerned, better take her to a vet.

Please do yourself a favor and calm down, your cat probably is sick, is she alergic to anything or has beeen outside for long periods of time? you need to take her to a vet asap.she may need to be an indoor cat for awhile.

I don't know about your cats eyes.you say it isn't liquid so that's weird, but all cats get "boogers" on their noses.at least every cat I've ever come in contact with, and all three of my own cats. If it really bothers you, just gently wipe the boogers off with your finger and wash your hands afterwards. My cats actually like this although it might take a couple of times for them to figure out you are not trying to hurt them and they will squirm. If the eye thing is really bad, take the cat to the vet.

it doesn't sound too serious but if it persists then you should take her to the vet they will know what to give her to make her better

My cat age 7 months has the same thing, but the dirty is in the corner of his eyes.

Vet said he has a mild case of herpes and not to worry, just keep the eyes clean. I just wipe them out with Kleenex and water Nose, I just leave alone.

It's not contagious to humans, only to other cats.

Not saying this is what he has, but sounds like it.
