This happens often. The kitten who got spayed has other smells on her and her sisiter doesn't recognize her or is afraid of her smell. Just give them a little time and she'll be fine.

They ALL have it right! It's the unknown smell from the vets office & surgery. Everything will soon be fine. Just cuddle them both.

Maybe they gave you back the wrong kitten! How well did you really know her.it coulda happened!

You can put something like vanilla extract or a scented hand lotion on the kittens' noses. Just a small amount. Then they will both smell the same and not like some "stranger".

This is a very time-honored and fequently made suggestion made to owners by cat behaviorists (of which I am one) when this happens with their cats

It could have something to do with the smell, but not likely. More than likely it's her demeanor. She feels bad and is in pain and the other kitten senses it. She is not acting herself. In a subliminal way she is telling the other kitten to leave her alone. My vet once put my cat on a medication for a behavioral problem. My other cat sensed he was acting differently and would not go near him. Neither of the cats had actually left the house, so it had nothing to do with odor. They recognize each other, but don't understand why the other one is acting in a strange or new manner. Just wondering, why did you only spay one?

The same thing happened when I brought my neutered male home, his sister hated him. Lasted about a week. Just leave them alone they will work it out.
