I hope you mean a kitten and not an actual new born kitten. Kittens should actually be with mom for 8-12 weeks. Check your local paper or go to a shelter.

The cat may be free but you have to think about shots, spay/neutering, food, litter etc.

NO and I repeat NO animal is "FREE"! get that out of your head right now!! just think about it, vaccinations, spay/neuter, yearly checkups, and vet bills if he/she ever becomes sick! if you don't plan on paying for any of these NECESSATIES than you have absolutly no busniess adopting a kitten!! obviously, you're not planning to go to your local shelter or SPCA to adopt a unwanted cat/kit! NO CAT IS FREE!!
