When my cat pooped it was in liquid form, is this normal Does he have diarrhea2007-11-25 12:30:08

I just got a cat for the first time..weird question but I just want to know in case I have to change his diet.

Any change in diet can cause this in a cat. Their digestive systems are very sensitive. If it continues for more than a day or 2 or if your cat gets lethargic, call your vet. Don't give your cat milk. This is an old wives tale about a saucer of milk. Homogenized milk is for human digestive systems not a cat's. My vet told me to give my kitten, who was taken from his mother too early, raw or organic milk or evaporated milk (NOT Eagle Brand or any other condensed milk)

For your own peace of mind, I would suggest calling the vet. There could be worms or a virus of some kind causing this and the cat may need medication. Also, to restore the electrolytes that your baby is losing through the diarrhea, give them pedialyte or gatorade. Again, my vet told me to do this in the past.

Dont give milk products and see if it clears up. Also, Science Diet is great food.

NO..That's not normal at all. You can change his diet, keep an eye on him, runny stool can be a sign of worms..or something even worse, I don't mean to scare you but if it doesn't clear up, get him to a vet.pronto..LATE.

Sounds like he does have diarrhea. That might be because what you fed him is different than he is used to or because he is nervous from the move.
