When my kittens play I think one of them is getting hurt
Evey, the larger of the two grabs the other around the throat. Gabriel meows and it sounds like he is crying out in pain. They do this quite often, and it always Gabriel who sounds like he is getting hurt. This is my first set of kittens, so I don't know very much (but I'm getting better). I appreciate all of your answers.
I have only had Gabriel since Monday (but they get along quite well aside from this), could this be Evey asserting herself as the dominant cat in the household? When will it stop, I don't want Gabriel getting hurt.
Answers:just leave them alone, dont ruin their fun. Believe it or not they are having fun. As long as there isnt any blood they will be fine. If it gets out of hand..running into you or using you as something to land on.use a spray bottle set on stun.
My kids (brother and sister cats) beat the heck out of each other. Their older brother at times gets into it (he is much larger.not really a brother) and total war begins and it sounds like a herd of armed water buffalo with racing through the house.and that is when I get armed with my water stun gun and start shooting.they scatter and ready themselves for the next battle to the death. Kinda like a video game around here.
So just leave them alone and get out of the way. They are just like kids getting noisy.
They are probably rough playing. My cats do that all the time. They will probably be ok
this is a normal thing for them ! remember the other kitten was there first and " owns" the place . so they are just making sure the other knows on who's boss. if it is getting to wild ,just pull them appart
Hi Daciana.kittens can play rough at times, however most the time it's quite innocent as each is trying to establish dominance. It's always important to observe their play time and intervene if things look a little rougher than necessary. This way will ensure that no animosity grows over time and that they will remain good friends as well.
I know what you mean , my kitten and her brother used to play all the time and it looked agressive , but they are just rough - housing .
