When will my older cat stop hating my new dog
My cat is 10 and is a mostly indoor cat. My roomate just moved in a month ago with a big labrador retreiver who is almost two. The dog wants to be friends, but whenver the dog appraoches the cat, she hisses and swats at him. Whenever they are even on the same floor of the house, my cat hides and growls. Will they ever be buddies? I have major puss-y problems!! (and I mean that seriously!)
Answers:Haha.. I don't think it's possible. lol. My older cat still hates my dog and she has been here for about a year and a half now. however.the cat doesn't growl nearly as offten. so you have something to look forward too =)
And thank you for your answer to my bible question. You are right. Why when I ask them to not answer if they are just going to blow steam and they do just to get to me.. I don't know. But thanks. =)

she probably has had some bad experiences with dogs so you will have to encourage her more wat i would do is keep them around each other as much as possible then they might start to rely and trust each other
If they are goingtobe friends,it may take a long time. Make sure the dog isn't jumping at the cat,or chasing it, this may stress the cat out. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and it took awhile for them to get along, but my youngest dogs still seems to want to chase the cats once in a while. They don't like it and hiss and run. She will eventually learn that the dog is no harm and start to come out.
Usually in time the cat will get used to the dog. It's easier when the dog doesn't want anything to do with the cat. But since the dog wants to play with the cat maybe a couple of scratches to the snout will help the relationship along. I've only introduced cats to smaller dogs and they never fought but just avoided each other.
i have a older cat with a young dog they have been together for over a year it is at the point where i have to separate them the dogs stays in the backyard and the cat stays inside and gets fedout the front of the house. My problem is in reverse though i think my dog wants to eat my cat. Just give it time and spend as much time as u can with your cat.
