Where can I find an animal behaviourist for cats2007-11-25 12:30:39

I have a psychotic half siamese that bites only me, not my partner or anyone else. I have now had to have a tetnus shot and two GP visits.

Go to: www.littlebigcat.com. Dr Jean Hovfe, a veterinarian, and her partner, Jackson Galaxy, a cat behaviorist, do individual consultations using the phone. It will probably run around $100 max.

It is always good to have an updated tetanus shot, so don't resent the cat for that.

First of all, my credentials. I used to be a Cat Behaviorist.

1. No cat is psychotic because it bites.

2. a cat's actions occur for a reason.

3. you got bit by the cat for a reason.

4. next time your cat bites you, note the time of day, and instance2 minutes prior to you being bit. (did you say something to it? Did you approach it at too quick of a speed? Did you toss battery acid on it?)

Chances are, you did something to tick it off.

5. Think about who the real psychotic is for second. You are giving a human trait, Psychotic Behavior, to an animal with an I.Q. that is about 25% of an average human infant.

6. Give it some space and let it chose to interact with you. I think you might have initiated an experience with the cat and IT was not in the mood. It felt controlled and thus threatened and therefore pounced you in response.

I would have to agree with Tones (especially since he was once a cat behaviorist!). Since the cat is only biting you, chances are it's something about YOU, not the cat. If the cat were out of its mind, it would be biting everyone.
