Where can i find a cat in va without haveing to do an in home check
I live in Alexandria Va. And im wanting to adopt a cat thats orange and white. But everywhere i go its seems people what to do in home checks. well i live in an apartment and if they did an in home check i would have to pay 300 dollars a month for my cat. so i was wondering is there a place in virginia that lets you pay a small fee and take the pet home with out doing a home check?
Answers:I dont know about Va, but i live in Florida, and i bought my kitten last month from a Petco. You just fill out papers right there, and they let you bring the kitten home with some free food for it. The papers ask about where you live, i live in a 35' trailer, definately big enough for me, my kitten, and my boyfriend, but i just put that i live in an apartment. They dont even do any type of backround check on you or anything. You have to pay $85 per kitten, but they come neutered/spayed, and up to date with all of their shots. That price is much less than what you'd be expected to pay for all of those shots, and the spay/neuter if you went to a vet yourself.
Tehy definately dont do home checks, and the price is worth it. Plus, the kittens are usually from 2-6 months old, so they're teenie, and adorable. I have no doubts that this would work for you! hope that helps!!
I'm not sure about VA since I live in WI but the way to get around that is to find a stray and just give it a home or answer ads in the paper giving away free kittens (most people are so desperate to get rid of them that they won't check out every single person who takes one). Most Humane Societies and adoption agencies for pets will do an in-home check to make sure the animal is going to be OK and will be allowed. they don't want to get the animal back and they certainly don't want it in worse shape than when they gave it to you.

Most legitimate adoption agency will insist on checking that the apartment house where you live allows you to have a pet. So you must be willing for pay the deposit ($300 a month seems awfully high to me) if you get a cat.
People think they can "sneak" a cat in and it never works -- some nibby nose will always report you. Then what happens to the cat? It gets dumped and that it not fair to any animal you adopt. That is why the agencies do the check.
Wait till you move to a place where animals are accepted or one where the pet fee is not so exorbitant and you can afford to handle it.
