I have 8 kittens in my house right now, is it safe to use scoopable litter with kittens? Thier litter boxes are awfully stinky with the non-scoopable kind. They like to play in the litter and I'm afraid that if they were to eat it they would get sick.is this a possiblity or is it safe to use scoopable litter?

I don't know what you mean by scoopable litter cos in ireland we just plain old kitty litter. But a really good one to use and the smell from their toilet is masked by it is: wood chippings. You can by it in a pet store. Better than the gravel and the chippings will soak up their pee and then go soft so their dirt will be covered in it. Easier to pick up the poo! best kitty litter

My vet explained to me that the healthiest litter for a cat is one that is low on scent and dust. Male cats run a high risk of blockages and stones. The risk is increased if the cat doesn't want to go to the box and holds it as long as he can. Scented litter, while pleasant to us, is VERY strong to their sensitive noses, and can make them want to stay away.
