For example, when you touch your cat, does he/she meow?

Our cat used to talk to us. She was very social. I do believe that animals communicate with us.

My cats are soooo vocal. One meows every time it is touched and another actually knows his name and meows when you say it.

Definitely, and she has different meows to suit her purpose. She has a leave me alone meow, play with me meow, pet me meow, and a growl and a hiss. She doesn't have a problem with her limited communication- as far as she sees it, I'm the one with the problem.

My cats definitely try to talk to me. My female is particularly funny. If I'm gone for too long, she "yells" at me when I get home ! She sounds like a cranky old grandma or something.it's hysterical.

when i talk to my cat, he meows back.. when we all come in and go about the house, he'll sit down and meow reall loud and it SOUNDS like he's saying "HELLO!".. and then we say "up here jimmy" and he comes up and meows softly then

I have 3 cats, the toroiseshell is the most chatty, and strangely the Siamese is almost silent. And when she does speak, it doesn't sound like your typical Siamese.
