Who can i get to care for my pet if I get into an accident2007-11-25 12:30:52

I have 2 cats. I do not have close family in the same city, and I do not have friends who are close enough for me to ask such a favour.

I have been thinking a lot lately about accidents and came up with some "what if" questions.

What if I was in the hospital? Is there a service where they can visit your home to care for pets?

What if I was unconscious for a few days and not able to arrange for anyone to feed my cats and clean their litter?

What if I suddenly died?

Does anyone have somethign organised for their pets?

Answers:

RSPCA have a program that is like private health cover but for pets. You pay about $30-$45 a month and it covers them for injuries, general check-ups and even if you have to go to hospital.

If you don't want to go that way, either your vet or animal league will look after them if something happens.

I never thought of that but their are places that will care for your pets..Look in the yellow pages they are there.I'm sure my family or friends will want my pets.Good Luck

There are companies you can call that will take care of your animals when you're away on a trip, or in an accident.

Check with a pet store or your vet if you have one. They may have flyers for such companies.

If you died without having someone to care for them than they would go to a shelter to be adopted more than likely.

Hi there.it's good to create a contigency plan if in the event something does happen which puts your pets in need of care. Most people contact vets and local shelters to ask who in their area can help for the care of the animals should you become ill and hospitalized. If you should pass away, the next of kin generally will have to decide what happens to your pets so it would be best to discuss this with them in advance so they best fulfill your wishes.
