Why are my 2 cats throwing up daily2007-11-25 12:31:37

I have two female cats both about 8-9 years old. They have lived together for the past 3 years. I never had problems with them until this year.

Every day I find a place or multiple places in the house where one of them has thrown up. I have caught them both doing it. Nothing has changed that I feel would affect them such as a new pet or moving. I have tried changing their food, giving them smaller/ larger amounts of food, multiple bowls/ one bowl. I haven't seen any changes in their behavior.

I asked a vet once what to do and she recommended everything I have already tried.

Can anyone give me an idea of why they might be doing this and what I can do to stop this behavior?

Answers:

a) hair is in there, and they are trying get it out. So you could try hairball remover food

b) try switching their diet, different foods, reducing fatty snacks.

c) make sure they aren't under a lot of stress such as you're yelling at them etc.

d) if you're giving them a diet of wet food, either switch brands or switch them to dry food 100%

e) make sure they are getting enough water

Are they allowed outside? Do they eat grass or nibble on houseplants?

Maybe your cats ate too much food or they probably have an ulcer. I had a friend way back and she had a cat of her own and same thing happend to her cat.

Clean the house and the cat litter once in awhile

you should get an internal check of the cats. one of mine sadly had cat leukemia and that's contagious also it might just be the food or food bowl get them back to the original food you were giving them and dint mix wet with dry food if u do. if there are any new smells in the home, brush there hair out because sometimes hairballs get stuck in there. good luck

could it be hair balls? try getting a hair ball formula from the vet.my cat did the same thing and that was the problem

I had exaclty the same problem and we found out that they ate the grass (which they sometimes do naturally) that may have had some pesticide on it.

Have you put her on a hairball control cat food? That is all I can think of. I used Iams hairball control for my 2 cats and they never threw up until I took them off of it on accident when I bought the wrong cat food. Try that - if you haven't yet.

Just a guess, but it could very well be hairballs. Put a daub of vaseline on the tip of their nose every day.
