Why are some people so mean to cats2007-11-25 12:31:40

I have read a Yahoo answer stating that to stop a cat from urinating in the house is to yell at it. Help me stop animal abuse!

Answers:

Yelling at a cat just makes it think you are going to hurt it. If you want to get it to use the cat box make sure the box is clean and show it how to scratch in it. If they see a cat starting to go somewhere else, pick it up right away and put it in its box. Praise it for doing well. If it keeps up, take it to the vet and make sure there isn't another problem.

Well i agree with you. People should not yell at the cat to stop it from peeing in the house. They should find some other more humane form of discipline.

Why not yell at a cat for that? It isn't physical abuse.

Believe me, when a cat pees on the floor, it knows that it is doing something wrong. Cats are naturally very easy to train, and use a litter box faithfully unless they are acting out. A previously-well-trained cat SHOULD be hollered at for that. They should NOT be physically hit or otherwise subjected to bodily harm or any kind of deprivation. That would be abuse.

why yell if you can just choke a little or squeeze its guts just to let him know that we aren麓t fkng around. Lol just kidding, but what you say is soooo exagerated!! I love cats, you need to be patient with them.

While I don't usually yell at my cats, I don't see anything wrong with it. There are sometimes when they are about to get into something dangerous, or something that I'd rather not have paw prints in, and I will yell at them to get their attention off what I don't want them to do.
