Why do cats hiss2007-11-25 12:31:12

We got a new kitten and my older kitty dosen`t hiss until the kitten and him are really close..Is this a defense thing or just saying this is my house..any news would be helpfull,thanks!

well it might be because that like lions they have their own territory and they maybe not like each other because the old cat probaly doesn't know the new 1 so they might go along with each other after a couple of weeks.
