Why do cats spit up after eating grass2007-11-25 12:31:14

Our cat will go out and eat grass and then in a few minutes she will spit up.

Answers:

they eat the grass for just that reason.but they also like the taste of the grass..mine does the same thing..wierd eh

My dogs and my cats both eat grass, they do it as i was told by the vet beacuse they lack something in the diet, what ever your feed them is not agreeing with them so they need to make them self sick. I change food as instucted by the vet and now my dogs and cats are ok. Cat self medicate they know how to help themselfs so check with your vet, may be your cat is trying to tell you something,everyone cats is different but if your worried call a vet they usually can answer any question over the phone, or go on the interenet reasearch cat and digestive problems. i used to have a cat. we had to put her to sleep because she was too old and weak. she did the same thing. im pretty sure they do it to get their hairballs out of them easier and less painfully.

cats love grass and there is special grass that you can buy you just grow it in a pot and let the cat eat it when they eat grass from outside sometimes its because they are sick usually after they eat the grass and throw up they are fine
