Why do cats stamp with their feet sometimes2007-11-25 12:31:14

Our cat is female and she always did that since we got her (5 years ago, 6 weeks old).

Cat body language

Contentedness - Kneading with the paws on a person or, for example, a favorite blanket or sleeping spot. Young kittens knead their mother's nipples to stimulate the feeding reflex in her so that her milk flows for the kittens to suckle on. Cats may knead for a short or extended period of time, the extended period sometimes interpreted by people as a sign of discomfort or restlessness, but it is more likely the cat is happy. Most cats will demonstrate this for about ten minutes at the longest.

hope this helps :)

It means they are happy. They do that like a dog wags its tail, but not as often.
They'd have trouble stamping with their ears?
Maybe she got an itch!
kittens originaly do it as part of nursing from the mother cat. the "kneeding" behaviour never becomes extinct in adult cats
cats do this when sprayin their territory, or if they have an urge to but arnt,it could be she is just happy.
They are padding which they do as a kitten to get milk from the nursing mother cat. Its a sign that they are comfortable with you though it damned well hurts sometimes.
Sign of contentment, bit of a sod if they are on your lap at the time.
I noticed my 2 girls doing this they are about 3 and have never done it before it was just after i used front line for the first time i said to the vet about it and they said it could be the fleas going between their toes or some cats do it if their nails are too long. I don't think its a problem unless its fleas then they need treating.
Because the drummer didn't show up.
they r happy
as kittens it stimulates the mothers teats to produce milk ( just like men they dont grow out of the habit)
Means they were taken from their mother too early, this is something to do with feeding from the nipples i think.
As with polar bears on the ice, they stamp the ground to fool a mouse etc to run from a hole in the ground so it can be captured. it must be instinct.
I've never seen, a cat do what you're saaying she does.
