Why is my cat a bully

Why is my cat a bully2007-11-25 12:32:54

I have two cats, they have lived together for 6 years. Recently the dominant cat has been biting the other, leaving scabs on her. Why did she start doing this, and how can I make her stop?

Answers:

They are probably both Female. Two of the same gender (especially female) could mean problems. The dominant cat may feel threatened to lose control. You can play in to this hierarchy by letting the cat know that it is the boss. You can do this by petting it first or showing it more attention when both cats are present.

Are they the same sex? Are they spayed?

You could spray the dominant cat with a water bottle when you see them fighting, and keep them separate while you are not at home.

Cat's are very terreroryal about where they live. One of the cat's will tell the other cat's that he or she is the boss. There's nothing you can do . Is let them at it or spray he or she with water.
maybe your cat is not tamed properly. every time she does something bad say " bad cat!" and stare, they'll understand
I have three cats all living together for years now same thing with the biting and little scabs. You should have seen the three of them today it was funny it was a three way stare down with two cats growling next thing I know two of them are fighting and the other is watching on the side lines laughing. There's really nothing you can do except break it up if it's going to far their cats their territorial.
I would tell her no very stearnly and spray her with water so she will know that behavior wont be tolerated. Also when they are unsupervised separate them.
Time outs work for kids they work for cats as well,my younger cat gets so wound up that i put him in the bathroom till he calms down.
This problem happens all the time for me at home. All I do is at night have one cat in my room and the other one goes into the other room in the house. And during the day well I would still keep them in separate rooms But when you go on vacation you could have 2 people to watch a different cat so that they don't get hurt. Also you can try to bring that 1 cat to the vet to see if any thing is wrong with your cat because if there is it could get pretty serious. Your cat might start to attack you. Or your cat might not like your other cat anymore
animals play harder than we'd like. it's just nature. animals don't put emotions into things, and they don't think much of scatches.

leave them alone for a few days and see if they sort it out. the non-dominant cat has probably decided to take some sort of stand, and is being put in her place. that would be my guess.

however, if this continues to happen, squirt them with a spray bottle when you see it happening and keep them seperate at night.

that might make a change.

good luck!
