we brought her home 2 days ago. the male cat smells her and hisses. he wont get anywhere near her (they are brother and sister) he growls and hisses when she comes near.
Answers:Its because your cat that was at the vets smells so different.It happens often when one cats comes back from the vets. If you have any vanilla dab a little on both cats and they will smell the same. If you don't as soon as the females smell from the vet wears off all should be back to normal.
Don't know that it's that necessarily. Have you thought about that it might be because she stinks of other cats now, too? She was away from your home and around other animals at the vet. Animals have good sniffers and they know when another animal has been around other animals.

well either cause the male smells the vet on her (and strange surroundings from the vet) or because he is mad at her for getting spayed lol
Scent de vet! The cat smells of the vet. It will wear off. You can try rescenting her with something. A lot cats and dogs hate the vet, they remember the vet by smell.

She just smells different. Monitor them both closely since he's not sure who she is, and she needs to rest and relax after her surgery. After a few days, she'll start to smell more like herself and he'll be ok.
She very much stinks like the hospital, the anesthetic, the medication etc. The prep disinfectant can smell like iodine. She will have anesthetic leaving her body for a couple of days. Not to mention she is out of sorts.
Give it a couple days and make sure he doesn't start grooming her when he's ready to reengage. I've seen too many cats "help" clean and accidentally remove the sutures! (Unless they are under the skin, of course)

That is 100% normal. She smells like the vet's office. They will be fine in a few days. All my cats act funny towards any of my cats that have returned from the vet. They'll be back to normal in no time. I promise.
that is because of the different scents on her now take the other cat and rub his scents on her and it will be back to normal for them
