Why is my older cat throwing up and foaming at the mouth2007-11-25 12:33:03

My cat has been losing weight, throwing up and now has lost apettite. She now is licking her lips all the time and sounds like she is about to throw up but doesn't . She is skin and bones now and won't drink water. Help

It could be a number of things that cause those symptons. Depending on her age, she may just be deteriorating from old age. She may have feline leukemia or feline aids. These diseases will cause loss of weight and appetite.

She is obviously very uncomfortable feeling this way and you are the only that one that can help her. Don't continue to let her suffer. It's time to seek the help of a veterinarian to determine what is best for her.

Get that cat to your vet ASAP! It is never normal if a cat will not eat or is losing weight! They dont just not eat! There is something wrong. I would advise you.(Not a vet but) instead of waiting to see what people are going to say, go to your emergency vet, bc sometimes things like this can't wait, and if you do, it will be too late.

I agree.this cat needs to be seen. There is NOTHING you can do for her at home. She will need IV fluids and other medicine from your vet! Call!!

Hey sweetie, it would be best if you took her to you vet. Depending on her age she could be developing renal failure. She also could have gotten into a toxin. Either way she's probably dehydrated from the continuous vomiting and will need fluids and possibly overnight hospitalization. Your best bet is to get her to a doctor ASAP.
