Why is my queen constantly calling 16 week old kitten2007-11-25 11:44:15

fina (my queen) is constantly calling for bagheera(kitten) he is the only one we couldn't home so we kept him. if she can't find him for any reason she comes and finds me and meows so loudly that i have to go find him 'cause she won't stop until he is in the same room. it was sweet at first now it is getting annoying. she still grooms him and she goes through the same behaviour if her sibling (tom cat and kittens father) is also not within sight. she wasn't bothered when the other four kittens left home but with bagheera she has to know where he is all of the time. he was first born and all the kittens were hand raised but she is very maternal even after all she went thro. can any shed some light on why she is doing this and how to stop her from shouting as i feel she is very distressed when she starts as she will call even when she has a toy in her mouth. please help and sensible answers only

I had a little cat who gave birth to kittens, one of whom was definitely Norwegian Forest. We kept him and he nursed until he was about six months old. He and his mother remained very close for their entire lives and she was happiest when curled up beside him.

Apparently Fina enjoys motherhood so much that she feels lost without her son close by. I don't think there is anything wrong with her. And it may be something that will stop in time. I wouldn't worry.

My male kitten used to to the same thing when his sister wasn't in the same room. He would cry for her until we put them together again. For me, I just think he thought she was gone.
