Why is my ten year old cat showing no signs of aging2007-11-25 12:33:03

I have a 5 yr old tom.He loves to hunt and is a supreme mouser.Loves a treat of raw bacon and adores cheese.And he is quite happy to fall asleep in my arms.

Some cats dont seem to show the signs of aging that we expect from humans.She sounds healthy and loved.Well done.

You might not like my answer but I am glad to say that the reason is that you take such very good care of your cat. She is happy, in great health and active and surrounded by what I see as a very good and caring care giver. She owns you! And she loves you for it! Keep it up my friend and she might live to be a very old cat indeed! My girl who resembles your just passed away after a nice long healthy 26 years life of doing all that your is doing. We miss her terribly but she brought us such joy for so many years. We were very lucky. I hope you are as lucky as I was. Enjoy each little nip she takes鈥?they are little love bites!

She's just healthy and well cared-for. Most animals do not live too long after their reproductive years, and they don't usually last long after they begin to show the physical deterioratin of ageing. They simply aren't born to do that, unlike humans. However, with good care, pets can still enjoy extended lifespans and it is a compliment to your care that she is still lively and happy. My 14-year-old Siamese male has hardly slowed down at all, and he still plays with all his favorite kitty toys and has at least as much fun as he did as a kitten.

Lol - no she is a very healthy, happy cat!! I have a cat who is 21 but its only been the last few months that she has started acting like an old cat!!
