Why is my tomcat humping my new 8wk old female kitten2007-11-25 12:33:04

is he showing her who's boss(not related to eachother) or is he molesting her, or is there such a thing in the cat world?

Answers:

First off cat's don't molest! He's simply telling her he's the king of the house, having him fixed may help, plus you don't want to end up with 100's of kittens! When she's old enought spay her too please!

because the female kitten is probably in heat and cats never have a problem jumping for humping it'll stop before too long its actuly not that bad because it shows some respect between them unless she hisses at him then you just want to lock him up for awhile

We have a male cat (Ozzy) that's done that to our youngest female kitten (Colby) almost since we brought her home. It's not a constant thing, but does happen every once in a while. Strange thing is, Ozzy was fixed long before Colby came into the house. Colby is now fixed as well, but it still happens.

We asked our vet about it and she said it's not a sexual thing, it's a domination thing. He's letting her know that's he's the boss and she'd better pay attention.

Don't worry, he's not hurting her, although it might sound that way sometimes!

If he is not fixed that would be a good reason first of all and you might want to think about doing that. My male urinated all over our female. But still I know of males still doing this even thou they are fixed and I cannot give a answer there b/c it is suppose to stop all of that. I would ask a vet if he is fixed and if not I would look into doing that or it wont stop

Some people say that a male cat will kill kittens, I don't know if its true or not, but until shes a little older you may want to keep a close eye on her

No, that is what tomcats do to females. If it was a male your vet would make a lot of money. There is no molestation charges in the cat world. There are pregnancies in females who aren't ready physically for it yet. You have had both fixed right?

Keep them apart or reprimand him severely. He could really hurt her. He's just doing what comes naturally to Toms.
