male cats are very territorial of their area! your new tom is invading his space, at least that is how he feels! get both fixed. males are fairly cheap to fix. this will calm them down some. they may even become friends in the end!! lots of luck with both cats!!:)
If you have had one cat for awile and then when there older you all of a sudden introduce them to another cat they may not except the change very well
territorialism
I had the same problem..its the whole territorial thing.give it a while and they'll get along
Its all about territory. The old tom has established that as his territory and he is letting the young tom know it.
Cats are very Territorial. especially if you have an older cat and get a new one. the older cat will get jealous and violent,it is used to certain schedules and routines. The best thing to do is keep them separate and gradually push them closer together.
If you have had the older cat for a long time he may view your home as his personal property (territory), if a new cat comes along the older cat will probably feel as though his territory has been invaded and may veiw the younger cat as a threat.
The older TC is expressing his territorial rights, since he was there first.
I'm not sure exactly what to do, but is there any way you can separate them to give them each their own territory?
I'm guessing that by Tom cat you mean that it's not neutered. (Tom Cat is not a breed, it refers to an in-tact male cat)
Anyway, your house is the old cat's territory and just like a male lion in the wild, he doesn't want to share his territory with another male. Neutering your cats, if they're not already, could help. They may just need time to get used to each other.
may be u spoil the young tom and the other trying to express its feeling because its getting old.
