Why is there no fat in my kitties tail
I have a HUGE kitty, over 20 lbs, and very very long, but her tail is short and thin, I call it a rats tail, why is there no weight to her tail?
Answers:That's a good question! I have a tortoise-shell calico that gained twice her weight once we had her spayed. She's named Pumpkin (hee-hee)! Anyway, her legs and tail are very thin, but her belly is HUGE! I think it's a lot like people (except people obviously don't have tails). Have you ever noticed how many old men look like frogs? They have big tummies but have skinny legs like a frog. LOL
Every cat is different; your cat simply isn't genetically "programmed" to store much fat in its tail.
Cats are not supposed to have fat in their tails. I don't know why the tail would be thin though. I guess it's just in his or her genes.
fat cells are stored in specific areas. the tail is not one of them.
Cats don't have fat on their tails. Some look bigger than others because of fluffier fur.
You sayin' your kitty aint got no junk in the trunk?
Because all a tail is is a bone. It doesn't need fat around it.
Aside from the fact that most fat is stored in places *other* than the tail, there is also a genetic makeup that predisposes your cat to a short tail.
We show/raise Ragdolls which are supposed to have long tails. One of our girls has a tail that is irritatingly short. She's Championed, but it's a fault and we're careful to make sure Papa has a nice, long tail.
I believe the tail is made up of cartilage which would not have fat cells but I could be wrong. As far as the short and thin part, maybe that's just the way her tail is!
because they use them for balance. fat would throw them off.
Kitties come in all shapes and sizes. I have one that has the skinniest tail i've ever seen! don't be worried, but i would but him/her on a diet
