Why isnt my kitten going poop again2007-11-25 12:33:07

I took my 4 week old kitten to the vets and got him formula they gave him an anal enima and meds for hard poops but that was 4 days ago and he still hasnt gone even with my attempts to try to get him to go poop what should I do? remind everyone I'm not working at the moment so money is very short specially after paying 127.36 for his vet appointment.

4 weeks old is a very young kitten. Try the warm wet wash cloth on the butt thing. Also make sure he hasn't eaten anything made of thread or string. The thread might unravel in his stomach and give him "string gut" which will keep him from pooping. When my kitten, Chick-pea, got string gut we had to give her a little mineral oil 4 times a day to lubricate her innards so she could poop. Worked the first time, but not the second. If your kitten hasn't pooped for a few days take him to the vet right away.

have you tried to rub a wet, warm wash cloth across his bum. it mimics his mommy's tonge.

call the the vet and ask if you come use laxatives in the cat's food ,BUT make sure you ask the vet frist. (it may kill him or make him more ill)

And clean the litter box a lot or he will not want to go poop in it

try stimulating his bowels by rubbing him on his belly down 2wards the butt area like mom cat would do, u can also give him otc med 4 ppl when they r constpated,[liquid form] just a tiny bit. milk also makes their poop runny,

If you are in the UK take your kitten to an Animal Hospital, they provide veterinary treatment for those who can't afford it.

honestly, the vet is the only one who has seen your cat and knows the specifics. if you love this cat, it is worth it to take him to thevet again.or at least call for some consultation from the vet..which should not cost anything

I don't know they may of given an over dose and he may be conctipated.

Put a little bit of butter on your finger and let him lick it off. I usually find this works when our cat's got furballs too, just don't do it too often as I don't think it would be good for them on a regular basis.

Are you sure the formula shouldn't be diluted in water before feeding? I agree if he was still with his mom, she would be licking his bum to make him poop so the warm wet washcloth might help. He really should still be with mom but too late now. Every time you feed him he should poop. Good luck.

It does sound like it could be an intestinal blockage. I have been on short funds, but believe I would rather go hungry than to see a pet suffer. They are totally helpless and dependant.
