He got over it. He likes to look out the window and door, but he knows that he's not going out.

It wouldn't hurt for a treat to take her out on the leash, she will get used to it and enjoy the time she has with you also. Don't let her off of it though. We have a lady in our neighbor hood whose Calico walks with her like a dog would. It's rather cute. I never have seen the cat outside without her owner on her leash.
It's ok to let the cat out of the house once in a while. I do with mine. Just as long as they have their flea collar and all their shots.
It is a proven fact that indoor cats live longer--the main reason cats want to be outdoors is to hunt which is instinctual to cats-cannot stop them from doing it and more songbirds and other small animals are killd by cats. As your cat gets older she will start roaming and expanding her territory-also instinct(the domestic cat acts just like the wild big cats and will establish territory. This is when outdoor cats can get hit by cars, chased and mauled and even killed by dogs for food(strays), caught, tortured and killed by sick people or just mean kids(every serial killer began with torturing small animals)Since I love My Cat and want her to have a long, healthy and happy life(she is now going on 13years and has always been inside)but she lays in the sun by the window(s)cats love laying in the warmth of the sun which comes in through the open enough window and because my windows are low get to see all the activity and will chase the chipmunks from window to window(she gets to chase but chipmunk lives. What you can do is set up a barrier by the front door so she cannot dart out-think of her safety first-a baby safety gate is great-approx 25dollars but prevent her from passing but low enough where you can step over or move ,I just step over for also good behind exercise. Your cat will adjust-you can also (esp if your windows are not that low) get her a cat shelf that attaches to the winow sill where the sun warmth penetrates through the glass or you can raise the window a bit so she can smell fresh air but still be safe. You can also talk and tell your kitty that you are doing what is best for her. Since cats also love grass you can from any Petfood store as Petsmart or Petco get Wheatgrass-also found in some grocery stores and definitely at a Farmers Market. They even have potted seeds that you just water and voila grass for your kitty- helps with getting hairballs up and keeps their digestive sytem healthy. Also keep in mind and you can check with your County pound but some counties(mine does) even have leash laws now for cats and the pound then can pick up any stray cat---and be awaare the a lot of pounds sell their animals to Medical Research Labs the Pound in my County has that notice in the Lobby. there are also those who catch strays and sell to these Labs -a cat $20. and a dog$30.averagae pay-had a program on TV not that long ago. So you see all kinds of dangers for outside animals And cats that are owned -not strays- are tame and easily caught. So love your kitty but leave her inside where she safe and happy. and healthy
Your right about it being a bad idea for her to go outside. Not only are there the bvious dangers like cars and other animals and just getting lost or something like that, but she can get very sick. If she's runnng out the door before you have a chance to stop her, you might check online for training advice. I'm not sure a spray bottle would help, but spraying her when she tries to get out might help as long as you show her lots of love when she does what she's supposed to. It'll take time, but after a while she'll stop running. She's just got to get used to the idea. Try yelling no really firmly too. if all else fails, hiss @ her when she tries to run out.

Whatever you do though, be sure she has an id tag and her shots. So, if she gets out, she'll be as safe as possibel. Good luck.
