If you are still speaking to them. I'm amazed that you turned out with morals and values beyond your own wants. I get so mad at cruelty. I bet they dropped it off. Probably in a bag like my first baby was found or dumped like my other baby & his brother & sister.

My older cat used to have spot of eczema on his back that occasionally gets a scab in dryer weather. I don't remember what I had to put on him since it's been years since he had it. But it was a spray in a blue bottle I got from the vet & it would moisturize the area. Though, I'd think that the spot on the kitten getting bigger and sorer indicated some sort of fungal or mite disease.

sounds like it had an abcess. Was the cat an outdoor cat? Many outdoor cats get into fights and bitten that turn into abcess.
