Worrying about my kittens saftey:-(2007-11-25 12:33:18

Just adopted n took my kitty this weekend. the shelter( WHS) said that he was about 4 months though he looks bigger than kittens I've seen at that age. I am worried about him getting hurt by my much heavier cat. Snuggles(male) could be anywhere from 2-6 years Vet says he's young. He's had all his shots n we've had him 4 6 months next Sunday. I rescued him off the street. He's about 14 lbs n mostly of muscle. I'd say he's moody but he seems 2 be getting along great with my kitten( Pumpkin). I want 2 know is it likely 4 them to get in a fight? hes playful but them seem to work things out. Could my older cat kill him or seriously hurt him? If I am there I'd stop the fight. they haven't had 1 yet n they seem 2 like each other but could my bigger cat turn on Pumpkin? also we feed them on the window sill they have seperate dishes or 2 different windows but will each out of each others could dis start a fight like it does dogs? with a cat/kitten they want 2 play do they know 2 stop?

By the sounds of it you have nothing to worry about, both cats are young & this makes it easier as they are less set in their ways..if Snuggles didnt like Pumpkin you would know it! Chances that they will fight/play are very good but Snuggles knows he's older & bigger & in general its the nature of things. He doesnt show any signs of aggression toward Pumpkin so honestly hun I dont think you should worry any more on this subject

keep them seperate as much as possible or until thety seem to know each other.if one cat has been there longer he/she prolly wont like it..they will fight because that is in a cats nature.but however it is unlikely that it would actually kill
well a male cat and a female cat will always get along and they will also eat out of the same bowl i have both and they love to play but when they get a little rough i think i put 1 out side they don't fight but i am always worried 1 might hurt the other my vet said not to worry they are just playing looks like fighting to me but so far so good
Never let them be together unsupervised until the kitten reaches full size. When you can't watch them, keep them separate until then.
First, since your kitten is eating real food, he is over 5 to 6 months old.
