Yesterday, I had to put my cat Cindy to sleep

I had her for 10 years, and I did everything possible to try to save her. She struggled for over a week before she finally had to be put to sleep. Can you offer me any solace in my time of grief and sorrow. I feel as if a part of me has died, and I can never get it back.

I am so sorry for your loss dear. I know Cindy will always be with you. You did the best for her..please know that in her little mind she knew that too. I had my Shadow euthanised years ago- she was 21, and I still think of her. I have 7 kitties now but each and every one of them is special. Here is a poem. My vet sent it to me after my dog died- I just cried and cried but somehow the poem made me feel a little better- I hope it does for you too - Hugs, you are in my thoughts.

The Rainbow Bridge~

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
