my older cat is not getting along with a newborn kitten
i just got a newborn kitten today and my recent cat here, who is now a year old, is hurting the newborn kitten. hes wrestling it, bitting it and scratching it. i need help quickly!
Answers:It will take a few weeks of supervised visiting for the two cats to get used to each other. Take them both into a comfortable room with a door. Close the door and spend an hour each day helping them to get comforatable with each other. Don't push it, but pet/cuddle each pet in front of the other so they see the respect you have for the other. This will work if you keep at it. Don't yell, or you'll make them both nervous and unhappy and will keep them fighting. Keep cool and be patient.
your older cats has creed, give your older cat a toy, and make the new cat, rest in a box, so the older cat does not see the newbie, good luck
try seperating them
a male cat will kill a small kitten, more specially if its a male. i believe its territorial.better keep a close eye until the kitten gets bigger. male cats are known to kill newborn when the mother isn't around. have had to get rid of a cat over this once before.
give the older cat time to adjust, and dont leave them alone together. make sure they are seperated when you leave, just to be safe.
Also try some cat nip for the big puddy cat, may calm it down.
same here but eventually they do accept each other but just dont bother with one another
try not to keep them together for now but soon they'll get along
Cats need time to adjust to each other. You should never put 2 cats together right away. In most cases that is a recipe for disaster.
