arf is a no-kill shelter, run by baseball manager tony larussa in sf bay area. here is the national information number.

I live in Los Angeles and the shelters (city and county) no longer put the animals down unless they're on death's door.

They no longer put them to sleep for a price either.

They examine all pets, give them their shots, have them neutered and put in a microchip. and you have to pay around $80 to get a pet from them now.

Check with your shelters and ask them about this.

The only way to get a pet put down here is to pay a private vet.
