Not really. The sex of your current cat isn't the deciding factor in whether or not they'll get along. The older cat's personality is what really matters. Is he territorial? Does he hiss when he sees other cats in his yard? Does he get mad or upset when someone new comes into the house? Is he high strung?

If he is any of the above, he might not get along with another cat, no matter what sex it is. If you go ahead and try anyhow, it's been my experience that cats of the same sex get along better than cats of the opposite sex.

it wont make a big difference, but naturally male cats dont get along well with eachother. if you get a female it wont be so hard for them to bond. the reason is, the males both want to be dominant so they fight for power, lol. females know theyre not dominant so its not a problem. your male cat also will not feel like he is being invaded. sooo.. good luck. oh and if you do really want to get a male, go ahead becuase theyll get along eventually its just harder and takes more time for them to bond.
Basic rule of thumb is that males and females get along best, males and males are a bit more difficult, and females and females.well, what happens when you put two queens in a room together? Hehehe.

Kittens tend to be more readily accepted by adult cats, anyway, so the sex of the kitten won't matter. Your male will probably hiss and maybe swat, but it shouldn't be anything too dramatic. Just monitor their interactions to make sure your male doesn't hurt the kitten..and I'd keep them separated at night for a while..just until they're completely used to each other. But don't punish your adult cat for hissing and swatting..this is normal, territorial behavior and it teaches both cats a little something about the other. They'll work things out in their own way, and on their own timetable.

Since your current cat is neutered, not really. Just make sure to also get your new kitten spayed/neutered when they are old enough.
No it should not matter if you get a male or female kitten, as your male cat has been neutered so he will not have any problem with the new addition to the family. Just remember to introduce them slowly and they will get on really well.

Good luck with everything.
