one of my cats had to go to the emergency vet and when he came home my other cat has been attacking2007-11-25 12:24:13

I know she probably smells other cats but how do I get this to stop

Answers:

The one who went to the vet smells funny. She doesn't understand but she knows its not something she is used to and she feels threatened. I would get something that smells like the home. Maybe something they have laid on and rub the one who came from the vet down with it or something like that. I think that may help. It may take a few days but this should soon stop especially after he has been home awhile.

I'd say you just may have to wait it out till the smells go away.
Hi there. She mostly has clinic clinic odours on her and it is discomforting for the other kitty. Consider keeping the kitty that came home from the vet in a separate room for a couple days so that she will pick up more of the home scents.
Seattle has the right idea. Separation for a while would be good. If your cat had any surgery the smell of the betadine used to sterilize the area is quite strong and may remain for a short while.

When they get back together you can put a small amount of vanilla extract on both their noses, or a little scented hand lotion. That will make them smell the same to each other.
