our cat keeps pooping in our bathroom, what do we do to stop it2007-11-25 12:24:56

we DID move the litter box from were it was but we made sure he could get there and knew where it was.

if you catch him doing it or see thats hes fixing to quickly put him in the litter box.he will get the idea..how old is he.the older the age the more likely its going to have organ problems so it will go whereever it can..clean it up and sanitize the floor so he wont smell the scent

First, how often does your cat do this? Sometimes this is the sign of a urinary tract infection which is common in cats. Check that out before you assume it's a behavior problem, especially if this is a new development.

Also, try keeping the cat in the bathroom with the litter box for a few days. He may learn to use it if he's left with the smell of his own waste for a bit.

Lastly.NEVER rub a cat's or dog's nose in it. This will only teach them to do it when you aren't looking.

Better pooping there than on the carpet. I would move the litterbox back to its original place or go with two boxes, one in the new place and one in the old. He may eventually switch his allegiance to the one you prefer.

maybe you should move it back to where it was to start off with and see if the behavior continues or not.

have you considered moving the litter into the bathroom? you can also try a product called Cat Attract, it is designed to kind of lure your cat to his box. Also, did you switch litter? sometimes that will cause that too. It has also been my experience, that when a cat changes his/her catbox habits, he may be trying to tell you that he has something else going on and he may not be feeling well, I would consider just having your vet take a look at him to be sure that he has nothing medical going on.

this is a thought maybe you should toilet train your cat, people can train a cat to use the toilet. you can get books about it anywhere
