please helpmy kitten is sick and keeps rejecting food and drinks water only2007-11-25 12:25:04

i tried feeding her ots of stuff but she wont eat.i cant take her a vet.

Fading Kitten Syndrome (FKS) can strike out of the blue and take a kitten quickly. You will see the kitten start to lose weight, no longer have interest in food, become lethargic and before you know it, the kitten has died. No one is really clear why this happens. Many veterinarians call it the feline world equivalent to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Nothing you have done has caused it, and sadly, there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

The loss of body fluids at a rapid rate will dehydrate your kitten quickly and he could die. Both of these symptoms can be part of a larger health concern

If there is blood in the stool, this is always a sign of a health issue. Coccidia and Giardia are sadly common illnesses in health compromised kittens.

If the kitten becomes restless and cranky or his abdomen looks distended or bloated, he may be constipated.

Often, a kitten will have some sort of parasite, whether it is fleas, worms, ear mites or ringworm. It's imperative to rid the kitten of these invaders as they can cause illness or even death in a small kitten if left untreated. When treating parasites, never use over-the-counter treatments. Always buy them from a vet.

Symptoms of worms in a kitten include diarrhea, pot-bellied appearance, weight loss or failure to gain weight, and a general loss of condition. Always obtain worming medication for your kitten from a vet.

Give her milk and see if she drinks it.water will keep her hydrated but has NO nutritional value. If she refuses milk.try some canned kitty food. She is probably too young to eat the things you're trying

why can't you take her to a vet?if your kitten is sick it needs to see a vet.

If you can't be a responsible owner then why in the heck do you have a kitten. If you can't take her to the vet when shes sick then I guess shots and getting her spayed are out of the question! Give her to your local animal shelter and explain what is wrong. Otherwise by the sounds of it your pet is slowly starving to death.

Maybe you got her at a too early age and that she hasn't been weened yet. She's not ready to be given solids yet and if you are giving milk to her i hope your give her kitten/cat milk. Cats and kittens can't have lactose ( mostly in milk) and can't handle normal human milk. See a vet quickly if nothing has changed

That is good that she is atleast drinking water. You can continue to offer her different kinds of food, usually tuna is a good choice (pour it on a plate, don't leave it in the can because she might cut her tongue on it). But I am really concerned about this cat. I can understand that you probably really like this kitten and want to keep it. However, if she is really sick, and you can't take her to the vet because of cost then you should find help. You have 2 realistic options and you need to act immediately, THIS IS A KITTEN AND IT WILL DIE IF IT IS NOT EATING:
