alright we found this cat its all white so we named it marshmallow any way she seems like shes always growling not purring she also vibrates when i pet her while she is "growling" is this a form of tring to purr we belive she is 6 to 8 months old

A deep purr can sometimes sound like a growl. But on the other hand, if you found her as a stray, she might find it very difficult to relax when she is being handled, and the growl might be almost a reflex.

You can tell when a cat is relaxed by its body language. If, when you pet her, she just swishes the very tip of her tail slowly back and forth, then she is relaxed and enjoying it. If she flattens her ears, and swishes more of her tail, she is feeling very defensive.

Some cats purr sounds like a growl if she is vibrating (never heard of it put that way but know what you mean) any way if she is vibrating then she is purring. All cats are different and there purrs sound different as well. I would no Be alarmed, be happy because purring is a sign of a content cat.

my cat does that and he's been doing that since he was 1 and now he's 2 and a half. its a normal thing for cats to do.

My kitten is 8 months and that is what she sounds and feels (the vibration) like when I'm petting her. She is purring and probably very happy.
