questions about neutering my cat2007-11-25 12:24:36

well My Male one year old tabby cat goes in tomorrow to get neutered..I have never owned a male cat before, so what can I expect from him when he gets home? will he pee in other places then his litter? (my female cat did that when I brang her home after getting spayed) will I need to buy anything special for him? anything will help! thanks! :) what happened to your male cat when you brang him home from the vets after his neuter?

Answers:

Kitty may possibly be a bit tired the evening of the surgery. Put him somewhere where he can just rest. Offer him a small amount of food that night and back to a regular diet the next day. As for urinating elsewhere, not likely to happen just because he was neutered. Cats don't hold things against people as other posts have suggested!

my tabby male did just fine. he has now passed on.. love him and he will be fine.

they will piss all over, ur vet will usaly tell u that he or she wants u to replace the litter box with paper but like they still will piss everywhere, liek put him in one room for a wile

I don't have a male cat, I have 3 females. You can expect he'll be missing things when he gets home, and that will be a change for a one year old cat. He will be sore and have a wound that he will not want litter getting into. Ask your vet, but I think giving him shredded newspaper in the litter box for a few days may make it easier on him. Maybe that is why the female did what she did. I've heard stories of different reactions in animals. I must just have some good girls, they never gave me a hard time and never "went" anywhere they weren't supposed to.
