recovery time for spayed cat
I will be taking my kitten to get spayed in the next few weeks, and was wondering what the recovery time was. How long 'till she will be running around again?
Answers:I disagree with those who say she will be okay as soon as she wakes up, and the girl whose bf is a vet should know better! Of course some of them seem just fine when they wake up; they're still medicated! All the vets I've ever dealt with (and that's been a few in my 50 yrs.), always say to keep them quiet for a day or two, & don't let them jump around, as it takes time for the stitches to heal! They don't seem to feel too much pain, so don't worry. Just watch out for fever, or any swelling, redness, or tenderness around the stitches, & your friend will be her usual happy self in a day or three. And good for you for being a responsible pet owner!
kittens are pretty good at getting over traumatizing situations. girl kittys-- not so much, i'd say give her a couple days, after that she's probably Mentally trying to figure it out. Physically it should only take a day or two. i've had 4 cats, a 3 month old kitten who just got fixed, and he was up and running the next day, and then i had a 6 month old who thought i did something awful to her, the other 6 month old just kicked back and went with the flow, the other one, hid from everyone. it really depends on what your cats personalitly was before hand really. it will be the same, just a little bit on the downkey. dont worry about her/him too much, she'll be as good as new in no time. if she does become lethargic and wont eat or drink, bring her to the vets immediately.
