Every cat should be a member of a family - welcomed and tolerated and loved by everyone in the household. If your wife will be antagonistic toward the kitten it is really not fair to HIM to put him in that situation.

first its nice to see someone other than a woman begging for a animal, i think you need to talk to your wife first, or you might both be homeless ! siamese are great , vocal, and all cats scratch thats what claws are for, you need a large scratch post for it to use if you do get it, and maybe invest in a few of those cheap mat type door mats, my cats claw them to pieces, overall cats are clean and good at using litter trays, but i do think you should ok it with your wife, maybe there is a reason for her not wanting it, maybe she has got one already as a surprise maybe !!

my aunt has a Siamese tom cat and he is the most gentle loving cat she has ever had. he's great with kids of all ages from toddlers too older kids he loves a fuss and is house trained. i only see him now and again and love him too bits. he was recently mauled by a dog and we nearly lost him but he made a good recovery except that he'll be left with a really bad limp and cant jump as high as he used too its not stopped him being a lovely natured adorable as ever.
