good luck!
Get whatever one suits you, we have a 13 year old cat and a 6 month old cat. They are bound to hiss and spat at first because that is their nature. The best way to get it over with is to show your 2 year old cat to the new cat. Let them see eachother face to face. It may get hairy, but they will have to get used to eachother. Also if you don't adopt, they get put down, I'm an advicate of animal adoption and I think it's great that your even thinking about adopting a cat. Good for you, go for it!
Cats are social creatures and enjoy each other's company after a period of turf war. Why wait? There are so many cats to love.
i have 5 cats and i love them all, some i got as strays and one i purchased, and another was given to me by someone that was going to put it to sleep, each time i brought a new one in the home , it would be difficult for them and there was some hissing, but now they are all great playmates, i say get a kitten and adopt a full grown, its great that you are preventing an unwanted cat from an untimely death.
Oh yes you should do it! I just added a new cat to my household (I already have 2 cats so now it's 3) and yeah it's a bit tough at first with the adjustment to the other kitties but it will be well worth it if you save a cats life. If choosing a male be cautious of spraying. A kitten will adapt quicker but in most cases after a few weeks they will be buddies no matter what the age is. When requesting a specific breed do some checking on the personalities these breeds have. see the site http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/ab.
i dnt see any problem of u getting an additional one, as long as u can keep them and give them all they need why not yeah go ahead and get onother, and its so good of you coz ur getting from a shelter which means that u are really helping those cats that really in need of a loving home. mines are from shelter too, i never think of buying from the pet store mostly if u buy one thier sick so y get from there and not from the shelter right?.. and bout ur worries of not getting alone, they will maybe for 1st few weeks they will hiss nd hate each other but sooner or later they will still gonna be freinds so dnt worry bout it.. so gudluck too u.
get whatever you want. But im glad there are people like you, who help poor little kitties. They shoudnt be locked in cages all day. They are way too cute!
I foster for my animal shelter, think about doing that while you wait for the Aby. (you can help many animals this way instead of just 1.) Also, your wait may be rather long if you are waiting for an Aby. Check petfinders. com or look online for an Aby rescue group. Also, comtact breeders about one. Sometimes they have retired stud or queens that can be placed aspets for a much lower cost than a kitten. The odds of getting a purebred Aby from the shelter, especially if you are wanting a kitten are almost impossible. Abys are expencive cats (but well worth the money) and they very rarey are given to shelters. Most are sold on line or to kitten mills, so your wait may be really long. I waited 3 years when I was looking to rescue a Bengal. I got very lucky with mine, the lady was moving across country and couldn't take the babies with her, so she sold them cheep.
Good luck with your new cat when you get him/her.
